The Protocol Labs Filecoin Impact Fund announced the results of Filecoin Public Goods Funding Batch 3. The program plans to commit roughly $1.4 million through December 2026 across 19 projects supporting infrastructure and coordination for the Filecoin network. The round received 81 applications, with 36 projects advancing to deeper review and calibration.
Batch 3 changes the allocation framework by formalizing the Filecoin Kernel, a set of functions considered necessary for the network to keep operating. Sixteen grants fall inside the Kernel, while three are funded through the Non-Kernel/RFP track. Applications were evaluated against roles in uptime, programmability, accessibility and persistence, together with the criticality of each function.
Funded areas include independent full-node implementations, storage-provider software, public RPC and archival nodes, hardware-wallet infrastructure and indexing. The published list includes $252,000 for ChainSafe’s Forest client, $213,332 for Curio, $85,000 for IPNI and $79,000 for Zondax Core Infra.
Funding remains milestone-based and subject to structured review. For Filecoin, the round creates a more explicit public-goods capital model by separating network-critical dependencies from opportunistic or strategic RFP work and linking grant sizing to the project’s role in network resilience.
