Polygon Labs says it has completed a SOC 2 Type 1 examination for the Open Money Stack API and dashboard. Independent audit firm Schellman & Company performed the review against the Security trust services criteria and assessed whether the product’s security controls were suitably designed as of a specific date.
A Type 1 report does not mean auditors have already observed the controls operating over many months. It evaluates design and whether the controls are appropriate for the commitments the provider makes. A SOC 2 Type 2 report goes further by testing how those same controls operate over an extended period using sampled evidence. Polygon says the Type 2 examination is already underway.
For companies integrating OMS into payment flows, the report provides an independent assurance artifact for vendor-security review, external auditors and compliance processes. Polygon also states that the report does not require complementary user entity controls for Polygon to meet its service commitments.
The event concerns security assurance for the OMS product rather than Polygon PoS consensus. It does not change protocol rules or POL economics, but it gives enterprises a more formal way to evaluate infrastructure used in stablecoin and payment integrations.
