The Stellar Development Foundation announced that USDT0 is now live on Stellar. USDT0 uses LayerZero’s OFT interoperability standard and maintains a unified supply backed 1:1 by USDT. The model is designed to give connected networks access to shared USDT liquidity without creating an isolated wrapped-token pool for every chain.
For Stellar, the launch adds another dollar settlement asset to its existing payment infrastructure. USDT0 can move across supported networks and can be used for payments and DeFi on Stellar. SDF lists SushiSwap support at launch and says more integrations are expected.
The announcement also emphasizes emerging-market use cases. Stellar has long focused on cross-border payments and on/off-ramp infrastructure, while USDT is widely used in Latin America, Africa and Asia-Pacific. The combination gives partners access to a familiar USDT-denominated asset on Stellar rails.
For exchanges, wallets and fintechs already integrated with Stellar, USDT0 adds another settlement option without requiring a separate blockchain integration. This is an asset-infrastructure launch rather than a change to Stellar consensus, so the network rules and XLM economics are not directly altered by USDT0 becoming available.
